This is a really good go to beach that is just north of the airport. If you don’t want to make the longer trek up north or have limited time this is a great beach. There is plenty of white sugar sand and the water is nice. Bring an umbrella as there is not much shade. Parking can be a bit busy but it just depends on the time of day and season. Warning: The waves here can pound the crap out of you. They can get 4-6’, sometimes 8 feet and really come in strong. I have seen both kids and adults get WORKED in the surf here. However, if you like to boogie board or body surf and have some experience at both and are a strong swimmer, this might be a good spot for you. The scenery here is beautiful. There are restrooms and usually a shaved ice truck. If you haven’t had the shaved ice in Hawaii, try it! But be prepared to wait in line at a snail’s pace on a busy hot day. (Hawaii Brah!). This is a good white sand beach not to far from Kona. About 20-25 minutes North.
